DTN COMMENTS:  A light trade is developing in parts of the South with 
live deals marked at $260, steady/weak with last week's weighted 
averages. A few bids are on the table in parts of Nebraska. Yesterday we 
saw some very light business take place in the North with dressed deals 
marked at $415, $4 higher than last week's weighted averages. In Kansas a 
handful of live deals were noted at $260. 

Beef cutouts are lower at midday (choice 392.85 -0.77, select 387.52 -
3.61) with light to moderate box movement (40.62 lds of choice cuts, 4.08 
lds of select cuts, 8.47 lds of trim, and 6.50 lds of ground). Cattle 
futures near the noon hour are sharply lower on both live and feeder 
contracts.

For the period ending May 14, net beef sales of 8,100 MT for 2026 were up 
7 percent from the previous week, but down 31 percent from the prior 4-
week average. Increases primarily for Mexico (2,100 MT), Japan (1,800 
MT), Canada (900 MT), Hong Kong (900 MT), and Taiwan (800 MT), were 
offset by reductions for Indonesia (100 MT). Exports of 12,300 MT were 
down 2 percent from the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week 
average. The destinations were primarily to South Korea (4,400 MT), Japan 
(2,800 MT), Mexico (1,200 MT), Taiwan (1,100 MT), and Hong Kong (900 MT).
