DTN COMMENTS: A few bids are on the table in parts of Kansas and
Nebraska. Asking prices remain rather elusive at this point. Significant
trade volume will likely be delayed until later today or it just may hold
off until sometime Friday, possibly after the on feed report is released
tomorrow afternoon.
Beef cutouts are higher at midday (choice 382.54 +0.56, select 379.04
+0.46) with light to moderate box movement (34.84 lds of choice cuts,
4.05 lds of select cuts, 7.89 lds of trim, and 5.64 lds of ground).
Cattle futures are sharply lower on both live and feeder contracts at
this time.
For the period of April 3 to April 9, beef net sales of 12,100 MT for
2026 were down 31 percent from the previous week, but up 12 percent from
the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for South Korea (4,900
MT), Japan (2,400 MT), Mexico (1,400 MT), Taiwan (1,300 MT, including 100
MT switched from Hong Kong), and Canada (400 MT). Exports of 13,400 MT
were up 1 percent from the previous week, but down 2 percent from the
prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to South Korea
(4,200 MT), Japan (3,000 MT), Hong Kong (1,500 MT), Mexico (1,400 MT),
and Taiwan (1,100 MT).
