DTN COMMENTS: A light trade developed earlier in the day, in Texas at 
$256 to $256.50, steady to $0.50 higher than yesterday's scattered trade, 
but $0.50 to $1.00 lower than last week's weighted average. A lighter 
trade has taken place in Kansas, at $256, $1 lower than last week's 
weighted average. A few bids were renewed in parts of Nebraska, but have 
been passed. This afternoon business has slowed, as it is looking like 
the bulk of cattle sales have essentially been completed. Having said 
that, a few scattered deals here and there is not out of the question. 

Today's slaughter totaled 108,000 head, 2,000 less than last week, and 
12,000 below a year ago. Note that yesterday's kill was revised, down to 
106,000 head. Live cattle futures closed sharply higher, up 255 to 480, 
while the majority of feeder contracts ended the day limit up, 1040 to 
1075. Beef cutouts are expected to close lower with light to moderate box 
movement
